Portsmouth hosts a significant amount of
industry, as well as major transportation hubs from industry and
port facilities. In order to meet the needs of our
customers, PFRES provides advanced heavy technical rescue
services. The HTR Team has the ability to effectively
mitigate confined space incidents, high angle and trench rescue,
structural collapse,
as well as heavy or light vehicle extrication. Several
members of the PFRES HTR Team also serve on the DHS/FEMA
Virginia Task Force 2 Urban Search and Rescue Team.
Portsmouth firefighters recently deployed with VATF2 to provides
support to the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
